Franeker (NL) - Kiel (D) / Amsterdam (NL) - Kiel (D) / Kiel (D) - Franeker (NL)
From Franeker or Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Avatar starts on a wonderful sailing trip along the Dutch and German Wadden islands to Kiel (Germany). On the first evening you are welcomed aboard the Avatar. First an enjoyable meal is served and after that there is time to get to know one another.

The next morning, the weather forecast and possible sailing destinations are discussed. A first stop is possible at the beautiful island Terschelling, where you will have time for hiking or biking. If wind and weather conditions permit, a visit to Helgoland is one other main attraction during this trip. About 70 km off mainland the red sand-stone rock with its green land steeply stands out against the German Sea. Because of the gulf stream Helgoland offers a good climate and unique nature. Then we set sail for the Nord-Ostsee-Canal to Kiel.

Depending on how the trip has gone up to that point, we may still have time to sail on the Baltic Sea. On the final day the trip ends in the port of Kiel Holtenau.

In October we will make the trip in reverse direction.

Haburg (D) - Kiel (D)
From May 11 to 14, 2020 the Avatar will sail from Hamburg on the Elbe and the Kiel Canal to Kiel. During a stop in Glückstadt you have the opportunity to admire the beautiful historic buildings in the Old Town. If the wind permits we will sail on the Elbe. In the Kiel Canal we will sail with engine.

Cherbourg (F) - Amsterdam (NL) along South East England
At the beginning of August the Avatar visits South East England during the sailing trip from Cherbourg in France to Amsterdam. From Cherbourg you make the crossing to southern England, for example to the Isle of Wight or Portsmouth. From here you sail further along the coast in an easterly direction. You may be visiting one of the seaside resorts, for example Brighton, or the ports of Dover or Ramsgate; typical English towns where the pub is of course not missing. During this sailing trip you will enjoy exceptional views of, for example, The Needles at Isle of Wight, the steep cliffs and golden beaches along the coast and the white cliffs of Dover. You then sail via the Dutch coast to Amsterdam. The exact route will depend on the wind and weather conditions.

There is also a wonderful sailing trip from Kiel (D) to Brest (F). See the trips around the Channel Islands for more information.

Wilhelmshaven (D) - Kiel (D)
At the beginning of October you have the opportunity to sail from Wilhelmshaven (D) to Kiel. On the day of departure there are many sailing ships in Wilhelmshaven to be seen, which are present for the annual Wilhelmshaven Sailing Cup. If the wind is favorable, we will visit Helgoland. One day we will sail through the Nord-Ostsee Canal and possibly we have time to sail on the Baltic Sea.
